The Pale
, 2024, oil on canvas, 58,6 × 81,4 cmBased on a concept taken from the video game “Disco Elysium”, the “pale” is a fog that contains all human memory and thought, past and future, becoming a tissue capable of destroying matter and distorting reality. It is hard to explain and to, consequently, understand. I was fascinated by the idea of the concentration of human thought becoming corrosive to human life itself.
In the painting, two characters are found in an invasive and uncomfortable interaction; from the impotent blue character, we can observe smoke coming out of their chest, coming from the house below, hidden under the bed. In this house, an impassive character observes through the window. On the other hand, the yellow character observes us, as the viewer, with their arms and body in a pose suggesting both dominance and tenderness.
